The Manacapuru Angelfish (Pterophyllum sp. ‘Manacapuru’) is a type of freshwater angelfish belonging to the Cichlidae family. It is a subcategory of the Pterophyllum genus.

1. Temperature: Manacapuru Angelfish thrive in temperatures between 75F to 82F (24C to 28C). Maintaining a stable temperature is crucial for their health and well-being.

2. Minimum Tank Size: For a small group or pair of Manacapuru Angelfish, a tank size of at least 20 gallons (75 liters) is recommended. Larger tanks are preferable for larger groups to accommodate their swimming space and territorial behavior.

Feeding Habits: These angelfish are omnivorous. Their diet should consist of a variety of high-quality flake food, pellets, frozen or live foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and small insects. Providing a diverse diet helps maintain their health and coloration.

Habitat Preference: Manacapuru Angelfish originate from the Amazon Basin in South America, specifically from the Manacapuru region in Brazil. They prefer densely planted tanks with driftwood and rocks, mimicking their natural habitat. Providing hiding places and plants is essential for their well-being.

Water pH Level: They prefer slightly acidic to neutral water conditions, with a pH range between 6.0 to 7.5. Keeping the pH stable is important for their health.

Behavior: Manacapuru Angelfish are generally peaceful but can become territorial, especially during breeding. They may exhibit some aggression towards other fish if they feel their space is threatened. It’s advisable to keep them with fish of similar size and temperament.

These angelfish are known to form pairs or small groups. They often form pairs during breeding and may become territorial during this time. Keeping them in groups or pairs is preferred, but providing adequate space and hiding spots is important to minimize aggression.

It’s essential to regularly monitor the water quality, perform partial water changes, and maintain suitable tank conditions to ensure the health and well-being of the Manacapuru Angelfish. Additionally, it’s recommended to introduce them gradually into the tank to reduce stress.
