Clown loach 4cm

Although clown loach can grow incredibly large they are surprisingly slow growing. Often growing only a few centimeters each year.

Keep with peaceful fish as clown loach can be quite timid and do keep them in a larger group than intended. A shoal of six or more should be considered or you may see the fish displaying unwanted behaviours such as surfing their reflection or hiding for long periods of time.

Clown loach benefit from a fresh or frozen food diet but will readily accept most pellet foods aswell. They are safe to keep in planted tanks but be aware as they grow larger they can uproot plants that are found buried in the substrate. They will also eat snails found in the aquarium so if you keep desirable snails such as nerites or tylomelania for example, don’t be disappointed if you find empty shells. Will only eat bladder snails whilst they are young. If you are seeking loach to maintain a bladder snail problem opt for their cousin the sidthmunki loach as they prey on bladder snails through their lifetime.
